About Hanisha
Not having a naturally flexible body meant that my high powered workouts at the gym left me feeling restricted on a physical and mental level.
As a busy mum of three, I used the gym as a means to regain some balance and get back into shape and the gym routine quickly became my solace. After some time, my limitations surfaced and I felt like I needed to slow down.
The highs of feeling uplifted and energised by the gym soon faded as I grappled with tightening muscles and joints and occasional aches and pains. Touching my toes was a stretch too far!
My search had begun, I yearned for something to balance my physical mind and body, something which could relax me and make me feel at ease within myself.
Synchronicity played its card and a friend convinced me to join her at a Yoga class. At first I found it challenging and felt limited in my range of movement. I became aware of my struggle and realised how focused breathing connected my breath and mind, allowing me to experience a mindful presence during the class. I left the class feeling revitalised and with a deep sense of harmony. From this point, I was hooked.
Yoga quickly became a key element of importance to my existence and it opened up a whole new practice of life. Yoga has now been a part of my life for 10 years and my practice has helped me to grow in strength and flexibility and allowed me to become fearless both on and off the mat. Yoga inspires me to live each moment more mindfully.
My passion for yoga and the joy of helping others led me to embark upon formal training. I completed (RYS) 200 hour teacher training in May of 2010 with Triyoga London. In March 2016 I completed another (RYS) 200 hour with The Yoga Academy specialising in Yin Yang Yoga. Both trainings are certified with Yoga Alliance. I am a registered British Wheel of Yoga teacher.
I continue my development as a yoga teacher through various training workshops in the UK and abroad because I believe that there is always potential to learn and evolve.
I will always remain a student of yoga.
In my classes I encourage a non-judgemental and non-competitive environment, allowing my students to work compassionately and mindfully within their individual body and comfortably within their own space.
Yoga creates space to live within your own body, providing release and freedom from obstacles.
My aim is to help each student to find this release so that they can nurture their mind, body and soul.
My hope for each student is that they can step off the mat feeling refreshed and balanced.
My pledge as a teacher is to embrace the unique nature of each student's individuality and provide empowerment through the passion of my teaching.
Yoga is freedom and Yoga is release... grant yourself permission to embark upon your journey...
